A Chicago-native, I grew up a Military BRAT (Born, Raised, and Trapped). Although we lived a modest life, I appreciated and loved my childhood and family. I worked for the Department of Defense (D.o.D.) most of my adult career. I am passionate about technology, design, learning, and human rights.

It makes me giggle when people find out I am a computer programmer. The surprised look in their eyes never gets old. I love coding more than I love to eat, but I love my kids and family more than anything.
I can't remember winning anything exciting—except when I found the golden egg during an Easter egg hunt at 5 years old! My first year in medical sales, I won a trip to Paris, France! Mesmerized, I instantly fell in love with Paris, the City of Love. Standing atop the Arc de Triomphe, gazing at the Eiffel Tower, I cried, realizing I could accomplish anything! That confidence led me to create the SLOL Official Brand. Originally, because I specialized in lower extremities, I started selling silly socks to the very doctors I worked with for years. They were so very supportive of my brand, and of my returning to school to pursue a software development degree. I can't wait to show them the programs I will develop for them! After all, I promised.

Then came COVID-19! Everything shut down. As a 1099 Independent Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Sales Rep, the solution was simple. We weren't allowed in the doctor's offices anymore unless you were selling covid tests or had the cure. As a single mother and the sole provider for my two children, I quickly pivoted to gig-work (DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, etc.). Working non-stop and teaching my children (due to the stay-at-home order), I got really motivated to go back to school! That's just what I did.

I fell in love with coding during my Intro to Web Development course in 2021. Through hard work (and tears!), coding has become my passion and safe place. Along the way, I’ve earned certifications in Web Foundations, Web App Development, Software App Development, and my Associate's in Software Development. Soon I will go on to pursue my Bachelor's with a focus on Project Management in IT!
